This Bentley R-Type #B91YA has originally been converted by Radford into a Countryman “Estate car”. This very sought after body design was provided with a folding rear seat to make a bed and a two-part “clam-shell” hinged tail gate (a revolutionary feature). Only 11 R-Types were built with this attractive Countryman Estate design.
The conversion lasted about three months and was ordered by J.W.A. Burness of James Burness & Sons Ltd, a non-trading company from London, in the nineties renamed to Walford Container Repairs Limited.
This rare R-Type Radford has an elegant two-tone colour scheme. The coat of paint has tiny cracks and needs attention. The technics also need attention, the exhaust has been removed. Investment in maintaining this Radford will give much more pleasure and at the end much more profitability. The Radford design is very rare and will always get much observation on meetings and events. When 210 R-Types are attending an event, this car will be the only present Harold Radford Countryman.
